Crafted from vintage wooden Nordic skis, these earrings preserve a small piece of skiing history while transforming retired equipment into wearable art.
Unlike many of my ski earrings, the featured surface of this pair is the original ski base rather than the top of the ski. The darker wood tone was formerly the edge of the ski, while the lighter wood displays beautiful striations left behind from the days when pine pitch was used to prepare wooden skis for snow. These natural markings tell the story of an earlier era of skiing and make each earring truly unique.
The earrings are finished with a protective clear coat that enhances the natural beauty of the wood while preserving the character and history of the original skis. The wooden construction, grain patterns, and vintage materials make this pair unlike any modern jewelry.
Because every ski has its own colors, markings, materials, and history, no two pairs are exactly alike.
Despite being made from authentic skis, these earrings are lightweight and comfortable to wear. The earring findings are made from hypoallergenic stainless steel, providing durability, resistance to tarnishing, and comfort for most wearers.
Handcrafted in Lake Placid, New York — home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games and a community deeply connected to Nordic and alpine skiing traditions.
Perfect for cross-country skiers, Nordic racers, ski historians, mountain lovers, and anyone who appreciates unique handmade jewelry with a story.
Each pair is individually handcrafted, and the exact earrings shown are the pair you will receive.
